"ALL
RADIOS MUST BE REPAIRED, MODIFIED OR BUILT
BY THE HAM WITH A WHITE
BEARD"
Welcome to my Web page
here on qsl.net.
I have been a Ham Radio Operator
since 1960 when I was KN3KAD.
At that time I lived in North
Fork, Pa., located in the northeast corner of Potter County,
Pennsylvania.
I was issued the call W1fif in
1968 when I moved to Andover, Mass . From 1961 to 1970 I
was a tech class running a home brew AM 6146 6 meter rig along with a
home brew receiver that was
double conversion using both solid state and tubes. The beam was
a home brew 5 element up about 30 feet (6 meter TVI was a problem back then too). So
in the fall of 1970 I went to the Custom House in Boston and
passed my Advanced Class and have spent most of my time on the
low bands after that.
In 1983 I moved to Maryland to work in the growing computer field as a hardware engineer. I moved my QTH again in April 2000 back to Potter County, Pa. and live about 4 miles South of Coudersport. In Feburary 2005 I relocated to De Forest WI.
Current operating schedule
I can be found on 75 at 3818.00 from
about 6:30am to 7:30am.
In the W1FIF mobile I run a FT-100 to
a Hustler ant. on the left hand back corner of my
2000 MONTE CARLO SS
At home I use a Kenwood 930
while on ssb and an old Harvey
WellsTS-90 with a Pierson KE-93
when on AM.
When I am in the mood fer some ORP CW I
use a Home Brew two tube (6C5
6V6) 6 watt output rig.
