Nutmeg Hamfest - (W1KKF) Request has been sent to the ARRL to host the Conn. State Convention on October 8, 2000.
Holiday Party - The annual MARC holiday party will be Thursday December 9th. at the VFW Hall on Prince Street (Same arrangements as last year). All paid year 2000 members are invited. Guests are invited - $5.00 to cover food costs. K1WJL is our chef de haute cuisine. Starting time 7:00 PM (Kitchen help 6:00 to 6:30 PM)

Activity Night – Tuna Tin 2 construction was the October activity meeting (Oct 28th). Reports are the 7.040 crystal is running at 7.0435 (Maybe a new Central Conn. QRP frequency)
Events -
1) WA1TRY ran the communications for the Annual
Cheshire (High School) Battle of the Bands on October 16th. It was in
the early evening.(18:00-22:00)
2) ARRL-Sweepstakes will be done as a club station activity.
Sweepstakes-CW was on Nov 6th & 7th. MARC did well, Joyce and
Conrad provided the vitals that kept the metabolism up. Contact Bob
KB1CIW for SSB sign up on Nov 13th & 14th. Contact Dan KA1SZP if
you operated at home and submit your log associated with the MARC club
station for either SS-CW or SS-SSB.
3) N1JEO headed up our station activities at JOTA. Some 400 scouts were
on hand at the Jamboree in Manchester. AC generator and a G5RV. Scout
leaders expressed an interest in starting a Radio Merit Badge class for
scouts. Many rushed back to Cheshire for the battle of the Bands.
4) The ARRL 10 meter (CW & SSB) will be on December 11th and 12th.
Contact Tim WY1U for those interested in operating from the club
station. Contact Dan KA1SZP if you plan to operated at home and submit
your log associated with the MARC club station.
Annual Meeting - November is the Annual Meeting per the ByLaws.

shack is a mess after several off-premise operations and the equipment
was not returned to its proper condition.
2) The shack is for AMATEUR RADIO operations only - no food and drink.

SSB 28375 Tuesdays at 8:00 PM, averaging about 10 - 12 check-ins. With band openings, an occasional out-of-area QSO.

Castle Craig - (N1API) Some certificate activity. Periodic band openings - when they are there, they are great.

Interference and Technical - (W1FD) Nothing new to report. Still some open items at Elin Park and N1API is waiting on the power company to respond.

scheduled for the following Tuesday, December 7th. The census is down a
couple from the first class, but one or two are home-schooling.
2) Joel does need some volunteer instructors. The class schedule is on the MARC web page - pick a subject and contact Joel.
Nutmeg Hamfest - (W1KKF) 1) The initial returns show the gate
was about 30 less than last year and the net might be in the red about
$180. Weather may have been the biggest cause.
2) W1FD reported $35 from the MARC table.
School Club - John Hart KB1EEN, a student at Lyman Hall HS along with some of his class mates, wish to start a school club at Lyman Hall. They need a sponsoring radio club and an advisor to work with the faculty moderator (who may be interested in becoming licensed). The advisor mentoring will require some afternoon activities. WA1TRY volunteered to help get things started. Let’s not leave Rich out on a limb., this is the ARS needs to keep it alive in the future.

Castle Craig - (N1API) August 10/10 QSO Party was last weekend August and August. Conditions were a little less than perfect - #@%$% is the adjective that came to mind. N1API did have a fairly good showing, but he had to work for it.

Field Day – It’s over.
1) Preliminary scores were posted, but the official stacking will
appear in the November (or December) QST. We generally bettered last
year in all(most) categories. Satellite was a stand out. Based on last
year, we are probably in the top ten of the 2A Class. FB folks.
2) The new three room tent fit our needs to a tee. Motion by N1API second N1RMA to authorize K1VDF to obtain a second - similar - tent. Not to exceed $200.00. Passed (2-Nay)
3) On the down side, more hands on Sunday for the break down would make for less cardiac fatigue!!!

Nutmeg Hamfest - (W1KKF) Flyer is available for distribution. The State finally refunded the State Sales Tax moneys. Starting to get returns on pre-paid vendors.

Key Klix - (N1RMA) KK is running along fine.
DX Cluster - (N1API) A full status report is in the April issue of Key Klix. Will move to the club location shortly, after the completion of Beta testing. The local frequency is 145.77
Library - (WV2LKM) The reference books in the club library are quite old - 5 to 10 years. The ARRL has a reference set of 18 books list $277.00 with a club discount at $177.00. Motion by WV2LKM to purchase. After some discussion and no second the motion was tabled. A survey was started to get members feelings for what titles the library should have - all on the ARRL list?, others? Get your comments, suggestions to Steve.
Miscellaneous - Manny’s (W1STT) wife donated his shack equipment to the club. An auction was held. Major items included a Swan 500, a couple of Vibroplex bugs, crystal 2 meter rig, various handbooks, etc.

Interference and Technical - (W1FD) No report. But the recent (Jan 1999) QST article on the cable TV illegal RF leakage in the 80 meter band seemed to exactly describe the problems of Don W1NFG. Don's problems may have been a contributing factor in the leakage investigation.

Special Situation - Manny W1FTT a MARC Life Member is unable to continue enjoying the hobby because of medical problems. Manny has been a substantial contributor to MARC over the years and a substantial equipment donation last year netted a large sum at the Nutfest. Motion by Pat N1YGL second by several to replace Manny's SWAN rig with a used TenTec 540 with PSU, mike available at Rogus for $250. Passed
