Coupling/self coupling is the biggest issue, where your edges can be pushed
either in or out (odd mode, even mode), depending on the coupling noise
sources, therefore affecting your noise margins as well as overall timing
budgets (flight times).

Howard Johnson put a very good and simple article
(http://www.sigcon.com/articles/edn/serpentine.htm). It gets right to the
source of the issue, but whether you should employ serpentine routing or
not, that could be decided by generating some simple coupled test circuits.
You could use your simulator to generate a few tests and see for yourself
whether the way the serpentine structures have been employed (could be
spacing restrictions, etc.) will induce self coupling or not.
