That goes back, like, 50 years.

As I remember (and for this vintage I don't have to, you know) it was a
cheap substitute for an impedance bridge, probably not good to more than 50
MHz (Ooops I mean 50 Megacycles). Sold by Allied Radio in Chicago, if you
can find one of their 50's catalogs.

But then I would guess that you got your Ham license in the 70's so you
might even have a copy. Let us know the price listed if you find it.

Subject: [SI-LIST] : Boonton 34A resonant line ??

I have seen the Boonton 34A resonant line cited in many documents as the
measurement device for Q factor of inductors and Capacitors. Some questions.

1. Would anyone have any documentation on this equipment that could be
copied to me?
2. Would anyone care to comment on the operation of this device.... How it
works, Application frequencies, accuracy etc
3. Does anyone else make a resonant line? If so who (so I can beg for free
documentation)

I believe the line can be used to find Q by detecting the resonant frequency
and bandwidth of resonance with and without the inductor/capacitor to be
tested shunted across the line? Anyone care to comment?

Regards,

Steve R
