loud TA's last night

I noted quite a few strong European and North African stations
when I went out to Granite Pier in Rockport, MA on Wednesday
evening (14 MAY). High band "rocked". Some stations - like
Canaries-1179, Spain-1296, Spain-1359, France-1557, Spain-1575,
and Ceuta-1584 - hit levels that could almost be called local-
like. A few more northerly TA's like UK-1215 and Germany-1422
slipped through but, watt-for-watt, stations near the mouth of
the Mediterranean had the definite edge. Low band was somewhat
more auroral: Canaries-621 was the best one there. Spain-684
was pretty good with WRKO-680 phased down to be about equal to
subdominant WAPA-PR.

Latin Americans occasionally hit good levels. The usually
good Brazilian channels 760 and 1100 were massive jumbles,
but Brazil on 1130 was quite good in a cardioid array phase
null of WBBR. I couldn't find Turks & Caicos on 1020: just
R. Margarita dominant and presumed Calendario (or Nanduti?)
way under, also in Spanish.

I was on site from about 7 to 9:30 p.m. EDT.

The full log report from this session and from a previous
one (at Rowley) will be along in a few days.
