1996 June Contest scenes
Loma Prieta, CA

Our operating position was about four miles south of Loma Prieta, overlooking the south Bay Area and Santa Cruz. There were about 10 people, operating on all bands from 50 Mhz on up to 10 Ghz, with the excetion of 3456 Mhz. It was a very hot day, with temperatures in the 90's, and we had to hike up a hill about 500 feet to get a clear view. Unfortunately, hills blocked much of the view to the north and south, so microwave operation was not very good. I moved to another location and was able to work several stations on 1296, 2304, 5760 and 10368. This was mostly a fun outing, and several of the group got to see what a ham microwave station looked like.
