My ham radio station (VU2MSY)  was earlier located (as shown above) at  Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam (from 1989 to 1998).Even before that, my first ham radio transmission started from Assam Agricultural University (Jorhat Campus)at 21:50 IST on a rainy April 13 night in 1989).

My present QTH is New Delhi.

I am an official operator at VU2NCT Club station of National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) and Vigyan Prasar (under the Department of Science & Technology). From 1989 to 1993, I operated CW only in the 40m band. During those days, I used a CW QRP transmitter which I got as a gift from my friend Ranjit Da, VU2RCH. I used it along with a BD139 based broadband RF Amplifier to get a power of about 10 watts. But this was without QSK! My QSK ability came in 1993 when I bought a CW QRP Transceiver developed by Vigyan Prasar. In 1993, I had been to Solan (Himachal Pradesh) with the hope of doing a P.G. in Horticulture at Y.S.Institute of Horticulture & Forestry. The interview got postponed for at least three months and after happily roaming the small hilly town for a few days. I returned back to Assam. On my way back to Assam, I visited the VU2NCT club station of Vigyan Prasar and National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC)in New Delhi and bought that 40m CW QRP rig (Incidentally my present Morning QTH is also Vigyan Prasar!).
After spending 7 days at the shack of Ranjit Da, VU2RCH, my SSB ability came in mid-1993. Now My transceiver is a hombrewed Transceiver (homebrewed in 1993 under the expert guidance of Ranjit Da, VU2RCH at his QTH itself). This NR-60 (A model developed by R.N. Raju, VU2NR) is made to operate in two bands (20m & 40m) using two VFOs with a power output of about 5 watts in 40m and 2 watts in 20m (obtained through a BD139 based broadband RF Amplifier). The PCB Layout of the NR-60 was provided to me by Dipu Da, VU2DPD and I obtained it through my friend Baruah Da,VU2NKB. I etched two PCBs of the NR-60 myself (One PCB is still with me!). The chronology of all those events included my academic studies as well! So, those were the memoirs of my college and university days!  I claimed Rs.10,000 from my father to buy a  1KW commercial RF Linear Amplifier and a MFJ Versa Tuner. This was in the last part of 1993 when I had been to Madras along with my parents. I collected those from Ken, VU2KEN. Though I have not yet tried to exploit the full potential of this RF Linear Amplifier (which contains 4 tubes), but could operate 30 watts in 40m and below 10 watts in 20m. Till now my antenna is an inverted-V dipole.
