My name is Ho Chi Ming, Charlie.
I have been always fascinated by radio and space. I made my first radio, a germanium diode crystal
receiver, when I was about thirteen years old. Later I became a Short Wave Listener and spent
my college years listening to "exotic" broadcasts and repairing and modifying five-tube radio sets in
an attempt to receive ham radio transmissions in the intriguing single side band.
I decided it was time to move into transmission and became an Amateur Radio Operator in 1982.
I've always-preferred VHF and above, when I tried 50MHz in December 1982; I was hooked on that band. After 19 years hard work, monitoring white noise almost everyday, I finally got the DXCC certificate #333 dated 17 May 2001.
I am also active on satellite since 1985, with simple setup antennas; I got DXCC certificate #253 dated 23 May 1997. Now I have worked 154 entities on the magic band.
I am QRV on the bands from 40 to 70cm. See my equipment page for antenna details.
