Shortly after that  got into the Coast radio business & started at Wellington Radio as a morse operator.
Over the next few years I transferred to all of the NZ coast stations and took my ham gear with me. Chathams was a favourite & operated 1969 - 85 as ZL3PO/C, ZL4PO/C &  ZL7PO.  Sent to Scott Base in 1972-73 as the radio op and operated as ZL5AP in my spare time, also as KC4USV at McMurdo & briefly from South Pole Station as KC4AAA.

CW is my favourite mode using all sorts of keys bugs and keyers.  I'm a DX hunter on HF these days, preferring the higher bands & WARC bands.  On 291 countries worked.
