Monday Morning Landing Expected

Improved WX Conditions - The team reached the point-of-no-return 0300UTC today (1pm local) and decided weather conditions were ok to safely continue towards Mellish Reef.  (The PNR was where they could have turned around to make it back to the shelter of East Cay before sunset.)  The 37kt winds from yesterday have eased to 19-20kts today.  A strong Southerly current along with strong Easterly winds have resulted in unusually large (and uncomfortable) swells in recent days, which has been hampering safe progress.  As of 0715 today they were 220nm from Mellish making 8-9kts.

Arrival - Actual arrival is expected to be in the early hours of Monday where the skippers will anchor their boats just off the reef and wait for daylight to navigate a safe entry through the reef into the lagoon.

On-air - The set-up timeline has been reviewed in order to fast-track setup so that stations can be on-air ASAP Monday April 15.  Original QRT was Monday April 22 but may be extended... we will advise a QRT date in due course.

above - Spellbound earlier today in the easing swell.
