What
digital mode, if any, should we run from Mellish Reef in April
2002?
Both RTTY and PSK-31 have their pros and cons.
-
RTTY
has been around for donkeys ages and has a popular following. We
expect many die-hard RTTY operators would probably still need Mellish
on this mode.
-
PSK-31
has been the fastest growing mode since SSB. It offers basic
inherent error correction and performs better under weak signal
conditions, and that means we could possibly work more of you guys
and have a higher run-rate using this mode. Is it "too
new" though?
-
Neither.
That's right forget about any digital modes and just concentrate on
the CW and phone pileups.
