Fresh 'crete...... The beginnings of a new tower and antenna system -- the pouring of the concrete. Two blokes wheelbarrowing concrete -- Chris, VK8KCS, on the left and JJ, VK8JJ, in the middle. |
|
JJ, VK8JJ, just having gone for the big hole, the tower base, going back for more concrete. |

My shortest "little buddy" Kristofer, age (2_1/2). He was checking it out the day after the concrete pouring to see if daddy really did do it "right". |

This modified CUSHCRAFT R3 Vertical Antenna has been into service for me off and on for a numer of years -- sort of an "old standby". It was rebuilt extensively in 1989 receiving a new base and other new sections following a small tree falling on it. At the same time the other repairs were being performed, it received a new R5 top section. Putting on the R5 top section allowed me to get 17m on the antenna -- the antenna was then a 10, 15, 17, and 20m halfwave endfed vertical instead of it just being for 10, 15, and 20m The R3 is mounted on the folding mount portion of the over-the-house tower guy. |

The beginning of one section's assembly of the ATN 320 tower. |
|
Just about having one of the two sections (out of the three available to build up) built-up. |

Hills Hoist ?? Nope, not even close..... It may look like a huge Hills Hoist (what freshly washed wet laundry is placed on for to dry), but it really is the reflector assembly having been completed and pointed up and away (so that I could work on the driven element close to the ground). |

The VK8JJ Tower and Quad. The quad's "boom" is at 13m (about 42 feet). The tower is two ATN 320 tower sections (out of the three that I have) for 11 m of tower (5.5m each) and 2m of mast out of the tower. The quad is a four element almost "boomless" quad with fiberglass spreaders. This is the same quad that was in use at my former QTH several blocks to the south from 1991 through 1996 (but on a different tower and rotator combination). |
