The big event for the Amateur Radio year has just passed by – the WIA AGM and Open Forum - held in conjunction with the WIA Centenary Convention - in Canberra.
About seven AHARS members attended this important event.
David Clegg will give a presentation on this event at our June meeting.
June Meeting: This night will cover the all-important Safety Factor. We all tend to think that we are safe from accidents or other experiences that affect our well-being, but the best defence is knowledge, awareness, and attitude. Please come along for a refresher. We have some expert speakers for your edification.
Graham Dicker will carry out Tag and Testing of members’ electrical gear, so please bring something along. Remember Ross Hull!
Club Program:
The calendar is now almost full.
Please turn to page 2 to see what will transpire for the second half of our year.
VK100WIA : AHARS has a slot in the VK100WIA Centenary activity. If you’d like to work from our special event station, (October 26-28), then please contact either the Secretary or myself for a spot.

John, VK5EMI, President, AHARS.

“I wonder what it is?
Definitely Heath Robinson-ish” muses President John.

John Moyle Field Day Report

Eleven AHARS members rolled up to “Womberoo”, our out-station in the mallee, somewhere near Swan Reach. Hosts Tina and Rob Clogg ensured that all were well fed and cared for, as usual. Ages ranged from our youngest “ham” , Patrick (VK5FMPJ), all the way up to the truly senior age bracket (names omitted to protect the Editor). Special guest was Rufus, VK5YO, a long-term friend of many in AHARS, and a rather regular attendee at the Womberoo field days.
Those in attendance were: Tina (VK5TMC); Rob (VK5ZHW); Christine (VK5CTY); Kevin (VK5AKZ); Jenny (VK5FJAY); Lesley (VK5LOL); Hans (VK5YX); Patrick (VK5FMPJ); Russell Morgan; The Hon the Treasurer (Richard VK5ZNC); Susan VK5AYL; and Rufus.
Operating under our club callsign, VK5BAR, we made a total of 393 contacts – all on HF – for a total of 770 points.
Most contacts were within Australia, but I note 5 to New Zealand, one to the USA, one to the Netherlands, and one to Japan. Excellent stuff. I hope to join the Womberoo throng next year for more Bushland RF.

Thanks to Kevin VK5AKZ, for the information - Ed
