Below are some pictures of my home brew PSK31 interface. The receive is working very well however the unit keys but does not send data out.

The TS2000 is renown for issues with PSK31 and the 13 pin din plug and cutting the audio. I have discovered many

documents point to using the internal TNC in the set and not the software. I will be changing the pin at the next opportunity...

I built the interface using the circuit diagram below: Interfaces PDF File

I had to modify it a bit because the TS2000 has a 13 pin socket. I got the details from page 95 of the TS2000 Manual.

Problems, problems, problems...and not with my soldering….

Its been quite an adventure. I find I am not the only one with some PSK31 issues. Built the circuit and tested it ok with an Oscilloscope and signal generator. No problems there.

If you get HRD (via DM780) to trigger the PTT via the RS232 port, the audio does not get to the radio. You need to trigger the PTT via the port you intend to feed the audio from your soundcard. That’s not just the TS2000, that is just about any radio. In my case it’s the ACC2 13 pin plug. However...

If HRD (5.0) is connected to the radio (TS2000) it allows control of the radio. The minimum pins required to do this on the RS232 connector are 2, 3, 7, and 8 straight thru. The circuit below right shows pin 7 (RTS) taken so pin 4 (DTR) can be used to control PTT. However, when HRD is connected RTS low and DTR cannot be controlled by DM780, no matter what the settings are. HRD takes over the RS232 port and you lose control. So when DM780 is connected, there is no control for the PTT circuit on the opto-coupler 4N25.

If DM780 only is run, the PTT control works perfectly, but without HRD, everything is manual, and you lose all the functions of the world map, digital frequencies etc.

The solution is to have HRD operate the RS232 for these functions, and add another com port via a USB port to control the PTT only (either RTS or DTR).

There needs to be a way for HRD to be controlled via DM780 where it releases at least the DTR...working on it...
