reducing the RFI from the Jackaroo (aka Isuzu Trooper,Isuzu Bighorn,Vauxhall Trooper,Subaru Bighorn,Acura SLX,Chevrolet Trooper,Opel Monterey,Honda Horizon) The idea is to reduce any RF birdies radiating from these modules and likewise reduce any RF getting into the modules from my transmitters. It not shown here, but Alarm/Immobilser has a 9mm ferrite, as this module radiates a strong RF carrier on approx 146.925MHz. I haven't heard the RF carrier since adding these ferrites.
1. this is the ECM, BCM modules. Added extra layer of waterproof foam liner underneath centre console to reduce noise and heat from gearbox
2. 2 x 11mm ferrites and 3 x 14mm ferrites
3. yellow conduit is the airbag harness, added a 11mm ferrite, dont want it false triggering due to RF
4. not sure of this blue connector, if it a ground point, and if it needs a ferrite as well.
5. the Alarm/Immobiliser module is in LHS of stereo, behind glovebox (for a RHD version).
The red cable is the low loss OFC 8GA twin lead for providing 13.8v from battery, to supply radios under the seats.
6. if you fit some USB charger ports in your vehicle, makes sure you add ferrite cores and possibly some shielding,
as these USB charger have very noisy inverters, in the modules I tested, their RFI was worse from 14MHz to 30MHz and they
radiate nicely directly from the package and also radiate RFI back through the 12v DC supply
