In einer kurzen Pactor-2-Funkverbindung mit mir (DM3ML)am Dienstagabend (=Mittwochfrüh in Australien) berichtete Hartmut, dass Brigitte gerade die Koffer packen und sie nach Townsville weiterfahren würden.

servus eike,
heute rund 400 km gefahren ... neues qth nennt sich TULLY HEADS und
liegt ca. 200km suedlich von CAIRNS entfernt. ( mach was ueber
TOWNSVILLE ..dort sind wie ja auch durchgefahren ... war uns aber zuviel
trubel dort.
wie findet man gute funk-qth's ???
man geht zur info ( australisches fremdenverkehrsbuero ) und erzaehlt
den meist aelteren herren oder damen dort seine wuensche ...

ruhiger campingplatz, muss direct am meer liegen ( salzwasser-bodenleit-
faehigkeit ) und freie sicht dorthin, moeglichst wenig baeume und
sonstige bebauung da,
wenn noch ein swimmingpool da waere, waere das auch nicht schlecht.

das hoert man sich alles ruhig an ... dann wird telefoniert und gewerkelt
und dann bekommt man eine hangemalte skizze mit der bemerkung, dass das
genau das richtige fuer einen sein muesste.
so stehen wir hier jetzt auf einem super qth ... vom ende des wohnmobils bis
zum wasser sind es 7,50m bei high tide ... die antenne ist genau an der
wasserkante aufgestellt ... schwimmingpool, alles vom feinsten.
einzigste problem ..unser wohnmobil steht genau unter einer ca. 15m hohen
palme an der folgendes schild haengt ...beware for falling coconuts.
in der tat ..in luftiger hoehe haengen ca. 20-30 coconuts  ...ich weiss
nicht ob das plastikdach des motorhomes das aushaelt ..hi

und das qth ist wirklich funktechnisch gut. gestern ein "grasnarben" qso
mit df4ta gahabt, heute locker it s5 meineseits mit ihm getalkt.
was kann man daraus lernen ... die antenne ist wichtig, doch wichtiger
scheint der standort zu sein, wo diese steht !!!

was waere zu Tully zu sagen ... australien's feuchtester ort mit
durchschnittlich 4500 mm / jahr.
reine tropenlandschft, riesengrose froesche sitzen regenlos im gebaelk
der toilette, ueberall irgend welches getier ... halt wie urwald !!!

gefunkt nicht viel, da den ganzen tag auto gefahren und muede gewesen.

Hartmut and Brigitte finished the very exciting stay in the Bowlen campingground with fine white sand and palm trees and started to go to Townsville, the capital of northern Queensland. They are in very good conditions, have a fine weather and send greetings to all friends.
A message later told me that they crossed Townsville and found a campingground with good antenna conditions at Tully Heads 200 km south of Cairns near the beach and under a coconut tree. The area is very humid and has the greatest amount of rain in Australia with 4500mm/a..The frogs are watching you in the rest room, hi.
