Ahh, so what about me??I've been a licensed amateur now for 26 years and loved every minute of it! I started out doing packet radio and other digital modes in the beginning, then I set my sights higher. I started to work satellites and other orbital opportunities, I've talked to astronauts/cosmonauts on the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station and Mir. I've worked many modes from space FM, SSB, CW and SSTV to name a few. It's a good aspect of the hobby to work when the sunspot cycle is not the best HI HI. My profession is in computers/electronics and I've built/repaired many pieces of radio equipment in the past 26 years as required. Homebrew is fun, but I fear a passing skill as the toys become cheaper and more complex, oh well such is life.. onward we go! On HF, I'm active in all bands and just about all modes (ahh the joys of computer software). I always keep an ear open when tuning thru the novice bands looking for contacts... remember folks share the magic, youth is our future - keep the excitement level up there or this hobby of ours will be but a memory. |
