It looks VERY cool. Anyone have any idea if it could be made to work with the K2 software? 73, John - K4WTF ++++++++++++++++++ Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2003 07:20:58 -0700 To: elecraft at mailman.qth.net From: Jeff McLeman Subject: [Elecraft] (no subject) I have been using this device for a while now with some code I wrote on the Mac to control rigs. It does make a great VFO tuning knob. (I also use it as well for video editing, etc.) Of course I use it on a Mac. (23" HD cinema display, dual 1.4 GHZ PowerPC). I have been working on a Java implementation of rig control (primarily since my company was founded to do Java Stuff, and I happen to like it). I am sure the device will work on a PC, but what do I know? >From: k4wtf at enterzone.net >To: elecraft at mailman.qth.net >Subject: [Elecraft] Ultimate tuning knob? >http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate/index.html -- snip -- +++++++++++++++++ Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2003 11:46:04 -0700 To: k4wtf at enterzone.net, elecraft at mailman.qth.net From: Jack Brindle Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Ultimate tuning knob? The Griffin software sets up the device so that it connects into keyboard shortcuts. I simply set mine up to emulate the freq up and down shortcuts. This is really easy to do in the Griffin control panel. I would assume that something similar is done in the PC user interface. The big catch is the software needs to have the keyboard shortcuts to handle whatever it is you want to control. By the way, there is more than just pot-style control on the device. Pushing down on the button also causes actions. There may be a few more, Sorry I can't remember at the moment... -Jack Brindle, WA4FIB ++++++++++++++++ From: "WQ8Q" To: Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Ultimate tuning knob? Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2003 15:04:05 -0400 Hmmm. I use a CAVS Shuttlepro with my Digital Audio Workstation software. I never thought to try it out with ham radio control. Besides the jog/shuttle dial and the shuttle ring, there are 13 programmable buttons. I use it with Windows softare (it also works with Mac) and although I don't have a K2 to try it out on (I'm in the K1 stage right now) I wonder how this would work ? ? ? They also make a smaller, more affordable Space Shuttle A/V controller. They work with many music/video programs, but they can also be easily set up to work with any windows program which uses keyboard shortcuts. The manufacturers page is at www.contouravs.com and these devices can be bought at a discount from many music software suppliers on the internet. 73 de Rick, WQ8Q +++++++++++++++++ From: "Michael Melland" To: Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Ultimate tuning knob? BTW it won't work with Win95 so you need later software.... I run it in XP currently and have used it with 98SE and ME with no issues... I currently use this knob with most of my software, including K2 remote. It can be programmed to provide any key sequence, like left/right arrows, that can be interpreted for tuning the rig's frequency. 73, Eric Julian (G4ILO) wrote: > I was considering ordering one and add support for it in K2Net until I > found that international shipping is almost as much as the knob itself. > Anyone know of similar products available at a more reasonable price in the > UK? > -- > Julian, G4ILO. Unfortunately, I don't have a knob to test them with! 73, -- Julian, G4ILO. I'm currious about the K2 Remote shortcuts as well. Would be nice to be able to use the turning to tune (obviously) and the "push down" to change the tuning rate. +++++++++++++++++
