Please keep in mind I'm doing this all by myself. Since I began taking orders for the REV2d kits... I've had pneumonia, my uncle died, I began and ended two contract positions, and updated the board design at the last minute which means new manuals, schematics, layout diagrams, etc. All the parts have been ordered and I've been receiving them bit by bit almost every day. All the kits are partially kitted and I've been working on low pass filter kits and mailing labels while waiting on parts to arrive. Some of the LM386's are backordered but due to ship on the 15th so I should have everything ready and kitted by the end of the week. I hope to begin shipping kits this coming weekend or early next week. I've been posting updates on the QRPp-I.com Web site. I will also post an update on the site and lists when I begin shipping. All the kits (except those going overseas) will be shipped USPS Priority Mail so once I get them going... they'll get to you quickly. As for my not replying to an email... I honestly don't belive I received it. I've looked for it again and cannot find it. I typically do a very good job of replying to emails. If you asked any questions I haven't answered here... please resend it. Again... I'm sorry for the delays and inconvenience. I'm doing the best I can. 73/72/71! de Brice KA8MAV http://www.QRPp-I.com ----- Original Message ----- From: To: "Low Power Amateur Radio Discussion" Sent: Monday, March 11, 2002 1:54 PM Subject: Tiny Tornado Kits > Has anyone heard how long it takes to receive the Tiny Tornado kits from QRPp international? Since AOL messes up many posts, I was unaware of his personal developments. A general apology to all if I came across sounding impatient. I guess my eagerness to make another kit clouded my head. For the record, Brice is a heads up guy doing a great job and I appreciate it. I opened up the package and thought that i had bought something from Heathkit in their heyday. When Brice says he puts work into these kits, he's not kidding! The instruction manual was the best I have ever seen, more than complete. All parts were there. With a new tank on the blowtorch, I built the kei. Brice warns us to read the instructions b-4 starting the kit. Every time I had a "bump", it was because I didn't read the book!. Wnen completed, on the well made board, (I'm in the business. trust me on this one), poweer up... No smoke, just code from the earphones :). 10 times better than the Pixie II, worth the $. Brice has a winner. As the 817 is back to the factory for smoke removal, this is my rig of choice. I just ordered a few boards (very few) and need to get some more caps ordered but the wait shouldn't be too long this time. Once I have enough orders to get the rest of the parts I'll get them ordered, kitted, and shipped ASAP. Check out the "Kits & Parts" page. Click on the Tiny-Tornado Micro-Transceiver kit link or the Tiny-Tornado page for more details. I've also added a new page called the "Tiny-Tornado - History and Evolution" which describes the evolution of this transceiver with a lot of photos and other stuff to enjoy. Also, if you've read any of the messages related to AM Broadcast interference... here's the fix. All the simple D-C rigs (Micro-80, Pixie 2, FOXX-3, Tiny-Tornado, etc.) "can" have a problem with AM Broadcast interference depending on how close you are to a local station. Some people don't have any problems at all. Others... seem to have a lot of problems. If you're one of those people that lives close to a bazillion watt AM Broadcast station and suffers from AM Broadcast Interference bleeding into your receiver... a simple High-Pass filter inline with your antenna will completely solve your problems. Don't suffer any longer. I made a Chebyshev 5-element High-Pass Broadcast Interference Filter kit available and it works GREAT! You can build the filter inside the enclosure of your transcevier or build it externally and use it with all your QRP rigs. Also, with ALL the Tiny-Tornado kit orders... I'm including a FREE set of high-quality metal-oxide resistors you can use to build a 50-ohm QRP dummy load right into the enclosure of your rig. Build it any way you like or put it inside your rig and add a switch to switch it in and out as needed. Place your order quickly. http://www.QRPp-I.com If you have any questions, please ask. I'm not going to do nearly as many as last time. SO... if you want one... now is your chance. Every time I've done this in the past... someone always emails me after I finish taking orders and there isn't anything I can do about it. I'm only putting enough kits together to fill the orders... so please don't wait. Well... in the process of ordering all the parts and boards for the current orders (there have been a couple delays because I still haven't received all the checks yet)... it appears I'm going to have a few "extra" kits left over. So... I'll make those available. I've updated the "Kits & Parts" page to accept orders for the Tiny-Tornado kits again but there are only a couple extra and when they are gone... well... that's it. Also, I found a couple extra "71" transceiver boards left over while packing up the last one to send out... so I'll put a couple more "71" kits together and sell them too. There will be no more Tiny-Tornado or "71" kits. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend Dayton this year so this is your only and last chance to get one. Better hurry... check out the "Kits & Parts" page and order quickly. At this time, I'm trying to raise some quick $ so only PayPal orders will be accepted. Oh... I almost forgot... I've added a 60-watt Dummy Load resistor kit to the site as well. You provide your own antenna connector and PCB material and save some money. $8 for twenty 1K ohm 3-watt metal-oxide resistors and a manual! I want to thank everyone for their patience. Also, it seems I made a mistake. Besides running out of a few of the parts and having to order more... I also thought I was going to be short on boards so I ordered another small batch of them. As it turns out... I wasn't short so once the boards arrive either on Monday or Tuesday, I'll have a six (6) complete Tiny-Tornado kits ready to ship immediately. I originally thought about saving them for the Indy Hamfest but I'd rather offer them here first. Like I said, I'm waiting on the boards to arrive on Monday or Tuesday but these six kits are READY TO GO. No waiting. I'll ship these six kits on Wednesday. I also have a few more of the Broadcast Band high-pass filter kits available. If you've ever had a problem with broadcast interference from local stations... this is a MUST HAVE accessory for your shack. You can use it with any QRP rig and it works GREAT with the Tiny-Tornado, "71", Pixie 2, FOXX-3, etc. I also had a *couple* double-sided plated-through hole boards printed for them and the complete kit including a PCB is also available now on the Web site. Only a couple TTx-1 kits left. I do have a decent supply of the RF Probe Kits and "extra" low pass filter kits available as well.
