Yeah, I know... 10M isn't available for the K1... BUT, there's a good chance that it WILL be, now that the KFL1-4 will handle most of the other bands (you've still gotta choose between 17/15M though). We've already been discussing this with Wayne (during the Field Testing process). The parts for band-change kits from Elecraft will be c. $10 (US) per band. So, you might wish to consider holding on to your KLF1-2 boards until the dust settles a bit more. 73 - Tom Hammond N0SS +++++++++++++++++++ Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2001 06:58:51 -0700 From: Wayne Burdick Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Think a bit BEFORE you sell your KFL1-2 Tom Hammond NØSS wrote: > Yeah, I know... 10M isn't available for the K1... Ditto for 160 meters. Another possible use for 2-band boards is to put them on 60 and 25 meters (5.2 and 12 MHz), which are proposed new bands, at least in the U.S. We hope to write an application note about this topic. 60 meters may be available in a few years; 25 meters may be further out. But for now, 80-15 m are the only available bands for the 2-band board. 73, Wayne N6KR ++++++++++++++++++++ Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2001 09:50:39 -0500 From: Tom Hammond =?iso-8859-1?Q?N=D8SS?= Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Think a bit BEFORE you sell your KFL1-2 I stand (err... well, sit) corrected! I got the parts from Elecraft and re-built my old 20m/40m board for 80m and 17m. I had to remove about 30 parts from the 20m/40m board and remove the residual solder from the associated PCB holes, so it took longer to re-build than it originally took to build. I was very happy with the durability of the Elecraft PCB. When it was finished, the board looked completely as if it had been originally built for 80m/17m. Not a single trace or solder pad lifted, and no scorched marks developed, during the re-build. That's one high quality PCB. This is the first 80m-capable QRP rig I've owned. Though I'll seldom actually use the 80m/17m board, it's nice to have it all tuned up, and the frequency display CAL constants stored in the K1, just in case. Plus, it makes me feel better to have found a use for the old 20m/40m filter board, which had "white elephant" status since the 40/30/20/15 meter board came out. 73, Mike / KK5F ++++++++++++++++++
