I set up the center frequency in Airmail for 1000 hz. This issues a mark 900 and space 1100 command to the TNC. I thought the standard TOR spacing was 170 hz, but Airmail set me up for a 200hz spacing ... not sure about this. Works okay though. When I select a station from the pull-down of stations, the terminal window status bar says I should tune to 1000 above the frequency of the station if using LSB. I actually needed to tune 1100 above the stated center frequency to establish a connection. I was running the K2 at 25 watts in to a ground-mounted HS1500. Calling from Ontario, CA to W6IM in San Diego. His 40m frequency is 7073.9. My VFO was set to 7075. [actually, it was K7OM in beautiful Washington state who helped me out with this -- we QSO'd on RTTY for a nice long while and he flipped between FSK and AFSK mode a few times and was giving me his VFO readings; so this is how I sussed it out. BIG thanks to Ted!] I was using FL3 in "r" mode, which is centered on 1000 hz and is set for a width of 1.2khz wide. This worked quite well. Lovin' this rig! I'll be operating from Joshua Tree (south campgrounds) tomorrow and wednesday during the day (astronomy at night). Not sure what times. Gonna have to register my airmail address with the list and perhaps post something via pactor :) 73, Martin AC6RM +++++++++++++++++++
