Using front panel switches only (no knobs), how many unique ways can you QSY down in frequency by at least 5 kHz? There are at least 12 ways, each totally different from the others. (Hint: Memory recall and direct frequency entry should each be counted only once.) Answer later this week. 73, Wayne N6KR +++++++++++++++ Date: Tue, 8 Oct 2002 01:20:41 -0400 (EDT) From: kc4kgu at ENTERZONE.NET To: Wayne Burdick Cc: Elecraft Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2 user-interface quiz--stumped? 1) Direct entry/memory recall 2) A/B switch 3) A=B (providing that B was 5Khz or more below A) 4) RIT/XIT switches - Does this count as two? 5) REV 6) Switch to LSB 7) Switch to CW mode and then use the CW RV switch? 8) switch to 15m with the Band- button 9) switch to 15m by pressing the Band+ button multiple times 10) PF1 11) PF2 12) SCAN How'd I do? 73 de John - KC4KGU K2/100 #2490 On Mon, 7 Oct 2002, Wayne Burdick wrote: > Guess I made this quiz too hard--no takers yet. Nice try, John. Unfortunately PF1 and PF2 can't cause a QSY by themselves (unless mapped to SCAN, but you mentioned SCAN separately), switching modes doesn't cause a large QSY, and your #9 is stretching the rules. So I'll give you 8 of 12 ;) Wayne kc4kgu at ENTERZONE.NET wrote: > > 1) Direct entry/memory recall > 2) A/B switch > 3) A=B (providing that B was 5Khz or more below A) > 4) RIT/XIT switches - Does this count as two? > 5) REV > 6) Switch to LSB > 7) Switch to CW mode and then use the CW RV switch? > 8) switch to 15m with the Band- button > 9) switch to 15m by pressing the Band+ button multiple times > 10) PF1 > 11) PF2 > 12) SCAN > > How'd I do? > > 73 de John - KC4KGU > K2/100 #2490 ++++++++++++++++ Date: Tue, 08 Oct 2002 10:00:44 -0700 From: Vic Rosenthal Organization: Transparent Software To: Elecraft Subject: [Elecraft] Quiz Ways to QSY down using only buttons: 1. Band down once. 2. Save freq., QSY up some other way, recall freq. 3. Direct freq entry. 4. Scan. 5. Equalize VFO's, then QSY up some other way, then hit VFO A/B. 6. Same as 5.), except hold REV. 7. Set different freqs in VFO's, then equalize them. 8. Band up 10 times. 9. Use CAL FIL to move the BFO up 5 KHz. The firmware will compensate by moving the VFO, but before exiting the menu you will be listening down 5 KHz. Use the widest possible filter setting so you can still hear something. (Wayne, if this is cheating I'll accept that!) 8. Set up transverter band, save freq. Change transverter offset setting, recall freq. 9. Do not make encoder-activation mod or use older firmware, then wait for rig to QSY by itself while sending CW. 10. Squeeze bottom cover real hard, causing QSY (OK, I'm kidding, I am just stumped)!
