Press harder :-) Actually, I usually put in one pad, and one screw (nearer the front panel of the K2)for the second pad. Insert the tilt stand, then rotate the one-screw pad until the other screw hole lines up and insert the screw. This worked on 2 K2s and an EC2. But you really do have to squeeze hard! 72/73, Lyle kK7P ++++++++++++++++ From: "Don Brown" To: "Roy Vickers" , "Elecraft" Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Tiltup Stand Date: Fri, 18 Oct 2002 12:44:30 -0500 Hi Here is the method I use. Install the front screws only and leave them lo= ose. Push the stand into the two holes compressing the stand and rotating= the feet a little. Once the stand is in place use pliers to rotate the f= oot so the back screw will drop through the hole in the panel. Install th= e washers and nuts and tighten all of the screws. You could also use a C-Clamp. Install one side as you did. Compress the stand and have the bolts, nuts, and washers ready to tighten finger tighten. Then tighten with tools before letting pressure up on the clamp. Don't know why the stand had to be so hard to install. ++++++++++++++ Date: Fri, 18 Oct 2002 17:24:43 -0400 (EDT) From: kc4kgu at ENTERZONE.NET To: Roy Vickers Cc: Elecraft at mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Tilt Stand Problem Use the forces of nature. Or rather... Use the FORCE, Luke! Do this: Take some wire/string/rope/whatever. Make a loop around the tilt-stand legs. Take a screwdriver and entangle it in the "loop." Twist the screwdriver, tightening the "loop" until such time as it "fits" into the slots in both bads. Then, rotate the screwdriver the opposite direction. It's all about leverage. 73 de John - KC4KGU K2/100 #2490 Elecraft WAS #8 +++++++++++++++ From: "Roy Vickers" To: Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 07:15:35 -0500 Subject: [Elecraft] TiltUp Stand Final Solution Thanks for all the advice guys, great list! My solution was to put both screws in one side and one screw in the other side, with the nuts on just far enough to keep the screws in. I put the stand in, set the panel on it's end and pushed down hard on the top of the stand until the last screw hole lined up and put the last screw in. I then tighten up the nuts. Hi Mike, The lower-profile tilt stand is model ETS15. It's the same one we offer for the KAT100 and should be on the order page. 73, Wayne ++++++++++++++++++
