Since that happen yesterday while I was in the car just listening I did not try to send, but just now I tried the side tone with the test mode and nothing is there either, then I tried to see if it would transmit CW and and it does transmit but no side tone. So, I look in the schematics and I cannot find the Side Tone circuit, maybe it is not labeled. This is terrible, worse than I realized. I can work without SPOT but I need the side tone or I won't know what I am transmitting. I am glad that you mentioned the Side Tone so I would check it, now I have even more work to do once I know where to look. Thanks Steve, Mike >Hi Mike, > >The spot volume is controlled by "St L" on the menu - try turning it up to >010?. > >This also controls the CW sidetone - Is your CW sidetone volume ok? > >73 >Steve AB6ZA > > >----- Original Message ----- >From: kb1dxc >To: >Sent: Sunday, August 25, 2002 1:07 PM >Subject: [Elecraft] SPOT, Gone but not forgotten > > >> HI Folks, >> >> My SPOT function has left from my K2(02097.) I had somehow set the source to U8-4 and it was supposed to be U6-25. I had tired both with no results before. What I did find out is that after changing it you have to power down and then power back up again before the change takes place. I found this out by accident, but thank goodness I did find it. I sure am happy that I don't have to go taking the rig apart and changing components. Thanks a bunch for your suggestion Jim. For those following the thread, if a change does not work to resolve an issue, try power down and power up before deciding if it worked or not. What a great list this is. Thanks Again Jim and Steve, Mike K2 s/n 02097 Back in action again !!!!!!!!! >Sounds like you might have accidentally got into the firmware menu that >selects the sidetone source and set it incorrectly. Mine was pretty loud too, I had to set it to about 4 or 5 initially. Then to improve the sound of the sidetone, I added a 150K resistor in series with C24 and put a 0.022uf across RP7 pins 7 and 8. This greatly reduces the harmonics from the sidetone and reduces it's level some. Now I set St L to about 20. 73/ Bob - AG5Q ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gil Stacy" To: Sent: Saturday, February 15, 2003 6:59 AM Subject: [Elecraft] SPOT mods > > Is there a mod or method to lower the volume of the SPOT tone?
