Subject: [Elecraft] MacK2 revision/bug fix

MacK2, Macintosh remote control software for the Elecraft K2, has been
updated to version 1.4.1 and can be downloaded at:

This update fixes several bugs, including one nasty bug that could cause the
mode button to cycle, so an update to this version is strongly recommended.
A number of other changes have also been incorporated. See the README and
CHANGE HISTORY for details.

MacK2 1.4, a remote control program for the Elecraft K2, is available at:

New Features Include:

- new feature: band button added to notes window
- new feature: prefs to set default values on startup (power level, keyer
speed, and squelch)
-new feature: arrow keys increase/decrease frequency and increase/decrease
RIT frequency
-change: port tab in prefs changed to "Defaults"
-change: adds "Set Defaults" to commands menu item (sets power, keyer,
squelch to default)
-documentation has been updated

MacK2 is freeware, and requires Mac OS X.

CHANGE HISTORY - ver 1.2 RELEASED APRIL 20, 2002
- added lookup of callsign via web default web browser with options for FCC
database or QRZ.com database;
- added Internet menu to access several popular web sites using your default
browser, including: ARRL.org, Buckmaster.com,  DXCC Country List, MPW
calculator (requires web access);
- added web link in About box to view software page for updates;
- added FCC database lookup button using default web browser in Log Notes
Window.
- bug fix - fixed unreliable scanning when using option key freq memories (I
hope); 
- bug fix - freq memory menu not available from Log Notes Window;
- bug fix - freq mem menu 8 in cw window accessed wrong memory;
- change - MacK2Remote window size reduced 10% and control placement
modified slightly;

MacK2 requires MacOS X and the I/O option for the K2 transceiver.

MacK2, a remote control program for the Elecraft K2 transceiver, is now
available on my web site, located at:

The documentation is also available separately in case anyone wants to just
review the docs.

This version is for Mac OSX ONLY. Minimum resolution of 800x600 or more.
Requires K2 with KIO option.

Unfortunately, problems associated with building a version for MacOS 8/9
means I probably won't provide a general release OS 8/9. Fortunately, most
of those who expressed an interest in this project indicated they are
already running OSX, or will be moving to it soon.

MacK2 is freeware.

Subject: [Elecraft] Remote Program for Macintosh

I'm working on a K2 remote program for the Macintosh and am about 50% done.
It will probably take another two weeks to finish the beta version since I
have extensive travel next week.

I'll be happy to share the program with other Mac users, but would like to
get an idea of what systems others are using and how they use remote.

This program will require a PowerPC Mac. It is being developed for OSX, but
should work fine under OS Versions 8.5 through 9.2.

If you are interested in trying a beta when it is ready, please send PRIVATE
email telling me:

1) what Mac computer you are using;
2) what Mac OS version you are using;
3) if possible, what features are most important to you in using a remote
program.

This works great for me using MacK2 control software on my Macintosh 
PowerBook G4 - and I use the button with it on MacK2 to change the 
frequency rate.
