It may appear that you have it "right" but you may be just a Hz or 2 away from the 'step' point provided by the DAC setting firmware, and it stores not the value that you had intended, but the one next to it. You can try repeating the setting several times until it really stores the value you had intended - some folks have reported success with repeated stores. These digital things have jumps in them - it is not as smooth as analog - but it is more stableand repeatable. I guess we can't have both without spending a large fortune for a transceiver with smaller digital steps. 73, Don W3FPR ----- Original Message ----- ... > the Byrdie was exactly at the marker. Hi Garry, Thanks for the tip.... I've downloaded spectrogram before and its gone past it's demo period so it won't work for me. However, I used JE3HHT's DSP filter because it shows the same thing as spectrogram - and it's FREE! My filters for SSB were perfect but my CW filter's were very skewed. I have them perfect now. Thanks, Dave. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary" To: "'David Walker'" Cc: "CSinfo" Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2003 4:27 AM Subject: VK2ICQ: RE: BFO settings? > Hi David, > > Use the info on our website to do CAL FIL optimally: > > General info on Spectrogram, including how to download it: > > http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/new_fil_docs/filter_apps.htm > > The CW method to adjust CAL FIL: > > http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/new_fil_docs/k2_cw_gram.pdf > > The SSB method: > > http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/new_fil_docs/k2_ssb_gram.pdf > > The 2nd XFIL mod we recommend when the SSB adapter is installed: > > http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/new_fil_docs/k2_2nd_xfil_ssb_mod.pdf > > (not needed on sn. 3000 kits and above.) > > > CAL S LO and CAL S HI often need to be redone whenever CAL FIL is done > and the BFO is changed. > > > Narrower CW filters will have less fidelity than the wider fixed SSB > filter, if that is what you mean. > > > -- > 73, Gary AB7MY +++++++++++++++++++ From: "Bob - AG5Q" To: "David Walker" , "Gary" Cc: Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Re: VK2ICQ: RE: BFO settings?
