There have been a number of changes to screen layouts and processing of the results file. I suggest you look carefully at the documentation. The release notes of changes etc will be found on the documentation contents page. I'm going to be working on other stuff for the rest of the week and the weekend , so don't be suprised if I don't get back to you on comments and issues till Monday. For those that are just interested in what K2Z is about, I suggest you download the zip file from the url and install the software and documentation, and just look at the documentation. "By George, you've got it!!" In the documentation, (which IMHO is extremely very readable); The last entry under the "Message" column- "findexecutable" should have a space to read "find executable" Ran the latest executable, can't find a thing wrong (and I looked!!). Everything was back where it should be. Processing time "16m 28s" Unless the other chappies come up with something, I think you're ready for prime time!! "Well Done! thou good and faithful friend" and all that stuff Dave KK7SS K2 #3003 +++++++++++++++ From: "Tony Wells" To: "Mike Murray" , , Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2003 12:36:39 +0100 Subject: [Elecraft] Re: K2Z Pre-amp problems Mike wrote: I've run thru 2 tests this morning and haven't been able to reproduce this behavior. For the second test, pre-amp settings were reversed from original test and were all reported correctly. Mike, I think this may not be reproducable at your end due to a diff. in K2 firmware. I've been able to reproduce it ok at my end, and have just finished testing the fix. A few of us have come across a situation where it is possible to goto a band, change parameters, and then they get "forgotten" by the K2. The fix is to programmatically quickly switch bands to force the parameters to be stored. One quick way of seeing this behaviour is to manually go to a band, change a parameter then switch off. When you switch on again the changes are lost. Sequencing numbering the results file shows up some interesting info: I'm up to sequence number 127 - thats over 32 hours of testing time. Get a life Tony!. I suppose I'd better stick with it and see what happens when I get to 999 ! I'll be issuing a new update sometime this evening UK time. Please also note that I've split documentation and binaries into two separate downloads, so interested parties can just download the docs. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU UNINSTALL/DELETE OLD VERSIONS !! I've also converted the zip files to self-extracting executables, taking some of the pain out of the installation process. You can get the K2Z software from http://www.t-wells.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/k2z.exe You can get the K2Z documentation from http://www.t-wells.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/k2z_docs.exe The software and documents are downloaded as a self-extracting zip files. They must both be installed to the same location on your PC. It is recommended that you just select the defaults when installing. If you have not yet installed beta6 then please uninstall everything first. Beta 7 has only a few minor changes, and one of those was of my own making, spotted by Phil Carter. I accidentally commented out the K2 menu reporting routine. I hope you folks agree that we are nearly there. I only have one outstanding problem that I am working on in parallel, which is on one k2 where the software does not detect the rtc. So.. I would like to thank everyone again for their help and patience whilst I figured out all the various idiosyncracies of your different setups. I propose that we give beta7 a week whilst you try to find any further issues. I would be glad if you would take another look at the documentation and see if you spot anything. We'll see how the next 7 days go, and hopefully I'll soon be able to pass the stuff over to Elecraft to go on their website. Thanks again! I've rebuilt the software and docs installation for beta7 and tested it, and it is now all working. However, because I muddled up the previous attempt, you will probably be best deleting everything and reinstalling. Sorry! Cleaned registry (Boy! that takes a looong time). Downloaded latest .exe files. Re-installed. Ran test - NO PROBLEMS NOTED AS YET :-) Rig was left just as it started. Checked results file - all was correct. Checked Docs -- Looks OK - didn't check spelling/grammar .. If (and a very BIG 'if') you wanted to do some 'pretty print'-- part of the results file looks like this =================================== VFO A____________________: 21100.00 Current Vfo VFO B____________________: 21060.00 Mode_____________________: CW AGC speed________________: FAST RX Ant. selected_________: OFF Ant. 1 or 2 selected_____: Antenna 1 Pre-amp selected_________: ON Attenuator selected______: OFF RIT On/Off_______________: OFF XIT On/Off_______________: OFF VFO Tune Rate____________: 10Hz =================================== Most of the rest looks "Real purty (sic)" IMHO - You're ready for:- a) Prime time b) A pint of Best Bitters at your local c) An meal at the local Angus (if they're still around) Congrats !!
