These two look interesting for the K1 and similarly sized QRP gear: http://www.rei.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=8000&prrf nbr=6596&addon=612918-630139 http://www.rei.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=8000&prrf nbr=30052&addon=630139-612918 73, Rod N0RC Ft Collins, CO ++++++++++++++++ From: "John Huffman" To: Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 11:44:18 -0400 Subject: [Elecraft] Bag for K1 I happened across the greatest bag for my K1. It's a Shakespeare softside six can cooler. The K1 fits perfectly in the bottom with clearance on both the front and back. The fit is snug, so the rig won't move around. The sides of the bag are well padded and insulated (the real purpose is for carrying a six-pack). I put a piece of foam on top of the rig, then the batteries, antenna, and key. There's a mesh pocket on the outside front for earbuds, power cords, and connectors. The bag has a nice carry strap. Purchased at Meijers in Michigan (Wal-Mart competitor). It was marked at $4.99, but was on sale for $2.90. Hard to beat. Photo of similar version at http://www.campbellsprotackle.com/store/product.asp?ID=525 but my strap isn't adjustable and there are no carry handles, just the strap on mine. Also, I had a choice of purple or green and took green. 73 de K8HJ John ++++++++++++++++ Date: Mon, 16 Sep 2002 06:39:44 -0500 From: Niel Wiegand To: Elecraft at mailman.qth.net Cc: hjohnc at core.com Subject: re. [Elecraft] Bag for K1 John, I've also found "Walmart" to be a great to shop for K1 bags. Mine is an insulated lunch bag. See: http://www.io.com/~nielw/qrp2/lunchbag.htm With camera strap attached and worn bandoleer style I've hiked to several out of the way spots for a few hours of hamming. 73, Niel - W0VLZ ++++++++++++++++++ Date: Mon, 16 Sep 2002 08:16:41 -0600 (CST) From: Bruce Rattray To: Low Power Group Cc: Elecraft Subject: [Elecraft] K2 case I just picked up a Pelican 1400 case for my K2 off eBay Canada...from the information I gathered, if this doesn't protect the K2 then something's wrong...hihi...it's bright orange and waterproof as well...the cost was $100.00 Cdn...it's in perfect shape including the internal foam...so I guess we can add it to the list of cases for the K1, K2.... ..72/73 - Bruce (VE5RC+VE5QRP) QRP-C#1 QRP-L#886 ARCI#9683 Zombie#272 A-1 Operator Club - 10/10# 944 - QRP Borg#1 - Whiner#10 - - VE5QRP SOC#11 - VE5RC SOC#12 - oo#148 - K2#2032 - COG#15 - "QRP!
