Unless they have changed the rules on VAT at 17.5% and import Duty since May of last year, I agree with Lisa you should not have paid it. The EU coding for this is The K2 8525 2099 00 (Hobby kit of electronic parts) For Accessories 8529 9040 00 I confirmed this with The Customs & Excise before I ordered my kit. They said make sure that these numbers are put on the US Customs Declaration and on the parcels. email me direct if you want more info at g4jdc at lesbod.fsnet.co.uk Les G4JDC +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Date: Wed, 21 Mar 2001 18:13:00 +0100 From: DL2FI at t-online.de (Peter Zenker) Subject: AW: [Elecraft] Buying K2 in UK - Vat etc Hi all, no way, the tax must be paid, but in the EU all Ham Radio Kits and all Morse stuff is free of custom since Febr. 2000. Most officers at custom office do NOT no this, but if you give them the custom declaration number, they see in their computer or even their thick book that you are right. We started this for the K2, but it is offical policy for all Hamm Radio Kits now. But Remember, YOU MUST GIVE THEM THE RIGHT NUMBER The numbers are: Rigs like Transceivers, Receiver, Transmitter either Kit or ready build: 8525 2099 000 Accessoiries like Bandmodules, ATU 8529 9040 000 Morse instrument, that is any instrument which is driven by a Morse key e.g. electronic keyer. 8517 9088 000 72/73 de Peter, DL2FI +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
