My Personal Background
Ok, here's my short CV .
Yours truly grew up in west
Toronto and Etobicoke and attended Royal York Collegiate. I got
my ham ticket in early 1969 and after a year on HF went up on
VHF and haven't been back, except for some contesting.
I'm a graduate of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at
the UNIVERSITY of TORONTO, graduating with a BASc (Engineering).
I've served on various committees at U of
T as part of my contribution to the Alumni Association at U of
T, and served in various executive capacities including President
of the UofT Engineering Alumni Association , and President of
the permanent executive of my class.
I have progressive experience as a Professional
Engineer including:

Developing computer test equipment at IBM,
-
Managing
rotating equipment design and installation of power generation
equipmet for Ontario Power Generation (Turbines, control systems,
governors and steam systems)

Developing telecommunications equipment (Sinclabs )
-
Applying Risk Management techniques to inspection programs for
Elevating Devices, Fuels and other regulated aspects of Public Safety
with TSSA
-
Managing the Risk Management program for the Town of Richmond
Hill.
In addition, I am one of the founding members of
VE3ONT, The Toronto VHF Society -- a group dedicated to VHF UHF
Dxing and exploration. VE3ONT holds every Canadian record for
the ARRL VHF Contests, and has operated the EME (Moonbounce) contest
using the 150 foot dish at Algonquin Park, Ontario. Our Megawatt
ERP signals (on 50,144,220,432,1296 and 10 GHz) are now roughly 11
light years from earth!!!!
I've also finally admitted to myself that I've had
my ham license for 33 years,
and am now a life member of the Quarter Century Wireless
Association(QCWA).
I'm also a member of RAC, ARRL, the Ontario VHF Association, and
Etobicoke's Skywide Amateur Radio Club.
Recent work has been in the area of WIFI communications and
establishing a WIFI based network at 2.4 GHz, for emergency
communications.
