THE SPANISH CONNECTION: Eduard Selma (Edward), EA3BTL, submitted these photos from 1966, showing a W.S. No. 19 Mk II, in service by the military government at Tarragona, Spain. The dynamotor (PSU) was removed and an external power supply attached, visible at right, on the table. The aerial was fed via a tuned antenna coupler (on the wall, above the "ugly lamp") made by then-Corporal Selma, (aka "Corporal Aerial"). A speaker with 500/3 transformer replaced the headphones. Two keys and a lateral "Maniplex" keyer are also shown but difficult to see in the photo. Edward reports this was a fixed station, used for daylight QSOs of about 100 km!

Edward reports that as a lot of space was available in the box, it served double duty as a cupboard for drinks (very good wines in Tarragona!). Note the callsign, ANF-5. He also used ANF-1.
