15 Feb Flag Day at C&E Museum. The Museum's version of "The Roadshow". Met with some of the local collectors and with the visitors. Will become an annual event. 1 Apr RCAF's 74th Anniversary. Dressed as WWII Telecom "erk". Museum tour to AVM McBurney and children/grandchildren of early RCAF Telecom leaders. 19 Apr Sea Cadet Weekend on HMCS Haida. Dressed as WWII Combined Ops signaller. Provided two "communications" demonstrations to Sea Cadets from Barrie. May Kingston's "Swamp Ward" Festival. Dressed as WWII signaller. Display included "encampment" and display of equipment. Summer RCNVR 75th Anniversary on HMCS Haida. Dressed as WWII. Provided display of operational signalling equipment. Jun RCAF WDs' Reunion in Kingston. Provided static display of WD memorabilia in registration/meeting area. Jun OMVA "Drive-In" in Oshawa. Acted as out-station for WWII equipment which was operating from 15 CWT radio van. Jun 19 Set Group, Field Day. On-air event with 19 Sets. Success with voice contacts to Ottawa and morse contacts to New York. Aug "Defending the Decades", Murney Tower, Kingston. Dressed as WWII signaller and provided display of signalling equipment. Also gave blank fire weapons demonstration. Aug Mr. Fitsell, Lindsay. Dressed as WWII signaller. Delivered message from Commandant CFSCE to Mr. Fitsell to mark his 100th birthday. Received one from him to return to Comdt. Sep "Reunion '98", CFB Kingston. Dressed as WWII signaller and provided extensive display of operational signalling equipment. Used event to pass message from 100 year old Vimy veteran to Commandant of CFSCE. 10 Nov Department of Veteran Affairs, Kingston. Dressed as signaller. Provided tri-service display memorabilia. 11 Nov Canadian War Museum, Ottawa. Dressed as WWII RCAF "erk". Participated in Sunset Ceremony. Monthly 19 Set Group voice net on first Sunday of each month. Weekly 19 Set Group morse training net every Monday evening. (signed) David Lawrence VA3ORP
