My home brew Tuna Tin II using ugly construction. Actually I think it looks pretty neat like this, and it sure is easy to make changes with this type of construction.

The key in the picture is actually a contact from and old relay, I found in my junk box.

With a variable trimmer, in series with the xtal, I've been able to pull the frequency to about 7.048.

Above shows the trimmer I used to pull the frequency. Below to the left is the varactor diode I hooked up to pull the frequency, but it didn't work as expected. I will be experimenting more with it.
