Motorola Makes Communication Possible Around The World With Its New Tri-Band Phone, Dual-Mode iDEN(R)/GSM Handset and Motorola's Satellite Series Phone, Pager and Cellular Cassettes

CANNES, France - February 23, 1999 -- From a world market leader comes a leading-edge series of mobile phones that makes communication possible around the world. Today, Motorola introduced the L7089 phone that operates on all three GSM frequencies (GSM 900/1800/1900), the i2000TM dual-mode handset utilizing both GSM technology and Motorola's iDEN technology for integrated digital networks.

L7089 Tri-Band Phone
The L7089 phone works on all three GSM frequencies*, enabling the user to take care of business and personal responsibilities from many participating GSM countries throughout the world. And, it's packed with such features as SIM Application Toolkit, two way text messaging**, 14.4 Kbps data support**, VibraCall(R) discreet alert, a built-in headset connector plug*** and an easy to read, large, full graphics Optimax(R) display. Globetrotters might use the same phone when travelling between Europe and Asia (900/1800 MHz), as well as the Americas (1900 MHz) on GSM networks*.

Expected to be available across Europe, Middle East and Africa from the second quarter of 1999, the Motorola L7089 phone is designed to be among the lightest (108g) mobile phones in its class.

i2000 Dual-Mode iDEN/GSM Handset
The i2000, a dual mode wireless handset is designed to enable international business travelers to remain in contact with a single phone number and single billing, between continents. The i2000 handset allows users to roam on iDEN networks throughout North America, South America and Asia Pacific*. Additionally, the handset's GSM capability enables roaming in more than 125 countries throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific*. While on iDEN networks, the i2000 handset enables customers to instantly connect with one, or even hundreds of people, at the push of a button.

The i2000 handset measures only 135 x 57 x 29mm and weighs just 169 grams with the slim Lithium Ion battery. Standby times up to 75 hours or talk times up to 180 minutes are possible with the standard Lithium Ion battery.****

The i2000 handset delivers the features and benefits that business travelers demand from mobile phones, including VibraCall discreet alert, Caller ID (Calling Line Identification), 3-Way Calling, multiple language support, a 4 line display and text messaging**. The i2000 handset also includes an integrated speakerphone function to help provide users with convenient conference calling and hands-free conversation. The i2000 handset uses a standard GSM small SIM card.
