p_Term Beta 6.70 ================ Contents: Installing AGWPE (2000.78) Installing AGWPE on a Win95 box Installing p_Term Install Digiplex RUN AGWPE RUN p_Term RUN DIGIPLEX CONNECTING TO YOURSELF USING DIGIPLEX ENABLING THE HTTP INTERFACE FINALLY I have made a web page (included on the CD: cd to installation, then open index.html) for a step by step direction for installing AGWPE and p_Term: http://www.qsl.net/ve7pln If you are an absolute begineer, you may wish to consult this document first. Installing AGWPE (2000.78) ========================== Copy the directory to the hard drive. Setup is fairly straitforward except: 1. Make 2 (TWO) ports: 1st port as usual (TAPR TNC2/ INTFACE KISS /RESET) 2nd port: select 'Loopback Port' in the TNC list. 4. Edit the AGWPE.ini. There is a line that goes ENABLE=0. Set that to ENABLE=1 Installing AGWPE on a Win95 box =============================== You should use the older version (2000.50) of AGWPE. You will also need to install the Winsock2 upgrade to Win95. To do this: i) Make sure you have TCPIP installed. If not, in order to install TCPIP, you may have to install Dialup Networking. ii) Run W95ws2setup (included on the CD). Installing p_Term ================= Make sure you specify 2 ports. One for the TNC and one for Loopback. Install Digiplex ================ Click on Digiplex068 Put it in a directory under Packet (just to keep everything 'under one roof') After installation is complete replace the 2 'Digiplex' files (Digiplex.ini and Digiplex.inf) with the ones on the cd. In Digiplex.ini, replace all instances of MEP with your callsign suffix. Edit Digiplex.inf however you want. Make shortcuts on the desktop to all 3 programs. RUN AGWPE ========= Shouldn't have any surprises here. RUN p_Term ========== As usual except enter '2' for # of ports. For 2nd port enter 'PACKET' and 'LOOPBACK' At this point you should set the new beacon and generally make sure everything is in order. RUN DIGIPLEX ============ After Digiplex starts you should notice right away that it beaconed. To furthur make sure Digiplex is running you can connect to it from p_Term by Connect Port 2 -> MYCALL-8. You'll connect to the node. You can then type '?' and get a list of commands but most of them are meaningless in this case. You can try a connect by going c 1 VE7XXX. After you've disconnected from the node and you're back in p_Term Moniter Window you can try a 'smart digi' connect by going Connect Port 2 -> VE7XXX v MYCALL-8. Check the moniter window to see what happened! CONNECTING TO YOURSELF USING DIGIPLEX ===================================== This would be a good way to get familiar with p_Term before going on the air. Thru the loopback port (port 2) type: c MYCALL-8 You will connect to Digiplex. Now type c 2 MYCALL at the cli. Another window will open. Go back to the window that is connected to Digiplex and you should see the p_Term menu. You can then try sending yourself a message etc. ENABLING THE HTTP INTERFACE =========================== In p_Term.ini set http=TRUE. Open Internet Explorer (must be version 5 or higher) and type 'localhost' as the url. If you are already running an HTTP server from your machine, you will need to change the port number of your p_Term http server. TELNET ====== Setting Telnet=TRUE will enable p_Term as both a telnet server and a client. The telnet port is 23 and cannot be changed. CALLSIGN SERVER =============== This is disbled by default. To enable it set Enable=TRUE in the [callsign server] section of p_Term.ini. You will also have to download and process the latest Industry Canda Callsign Database available at www.rac.ca QRZ.COM ======= Enabling this item will allow local or remote query of the qrz.com callsign database. Obviously you will need to be connected to the Internet for this to be work. FINALLY ======= There is a new menu item in AGWPE called 'startup prgms'. Select it and enter the path to p_Term and then Digiplex by using the browse button. Shut everything done (making sure you shutdown AGWPE last) then startup AGWPE. The other programs should startup automatically! As usual, don't hesitate to call me if you run into a problem! 73, Philip
