Around the Cape of the Good Hope
About 7 years after passing the famous Cape Hoorn at the 15. February 2004 the Ukrainian Sailing Traning Ship KHERSONES did pass the Cape of the Good Hope near Capetown / Southafrica. It was a very important event because since the end of the World War II no other tall ship did pass this part of the world under sails. So this event was celebrated by the crew and the trainees on board and later in the port of Capetown together with a lot of good friends.
At the 15. February 2004 at 12,30 local time it was made. About 5 sm away of the Cape the KHRTSONES sails on its course from West to East and aften a turn back direction to Capetown. A helicopter and some other ships did acompany the KHERSONRS.
These day was quite a very nice day. The sun was shining and it was warm. The wind came from west with 4 bft. Everybody on board did feel well and this importand event was enjoyed.
