50 Watt Dummy Load

Every Ham operator should have dummy load. However professional dummy loads are generally too expensive for amateur use.
I used 24 pieces of 2W 1200 Ohm carbon resistors. It makes 48w 50 Ohm.
NEVER use resistors >3W. They are inductive !!!
I used hot glue under SO239 connector in order to prevent leakeage if I fill it with oil.
You can use any empty, conductive can. Bigger is better. If you are going to fill it with oil for cooling,
it is better to find a solderable can.
Use coaxial cable for connection. It is not so important on low freqs, but affects on higher freqs.
Mine works through DC to VHF, but not on the UHF band. More plate-plate and plate-can seperation may increase frequency. I am not sure.
