SPARC 2010 KS1G Bike Mobile

Attached is my log for bicycle mobile station entry in the 2010 VA QSO Party ... and several photos of my bicycle mobile station ready to roll, close up of the "operator position", and shots taken of the operation at the Herndon Town Green and at the OSC campus off Rt 28 in Dulles VA.

Note that while the operating shots show my antenna whip at full extension, it is unsafe to ride that way and I retract the whip before moving. The station can tune and radiate with the whip retracted, just not very well! The counterpoise wires visible in one shot at the Dulles QTH didn't seem to help and I packed them away soon thereafter.

If you seek nominations for best signal, KC4VT's operation sounded outstanding.

I had a great time and look forward to entering again next year, maybe activating a few more cities and counties accessible from Herndon by bike if we get weather as nice as we did this year!
