Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club (SPARC)
2019 Sterlingfest

The Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club hosted an information booth and special event station at the 2019 Sterling Festival on Saturday, 12 October 2019.

We had a good time.  We started with setup at 0900.  People started to stop by starting at about 1100.  We started to tear-down about 1700 and by 1730, we were gone.

For the first time this year, Sterling Fest provided a demonstration area and Steve, KN4BGW, provided a 10 minute demo of his handheld transceiver and a yagi antenna.

We had a few SPARC people come out to visit us at the booth. We had a good time and hope that others did also.

Duane, K4UW, was the first to arrive.  He brought the battery to power the radio and stayed all day.

John, W3XWT, arrived early also and worked the radio for while.

John, W3XWT, and Duane, K4UW, in the booth.  All set and ready for visitors.

Jim, N4FAF, arrived to help operate the booth and stayed most of the day.

Steve, KN4BGW, stopped by to chat and then "volunteered" to give the ham radio demonstration for Sterling Fest later in the day.

Gary, K4SRX, helped operate the booth.  He is in his ARES uniform.

Gordon, NQ4K, stood around, worked the radio, and talked all the time.

We had plenty of visitors.

Jennifer Boysko, our district Virginia legislature State Senator, said hello. She has visited our Field Day site in the past also.

Patrick, KN4PIZ, always looks happy.

Warren, KN4PIY, stopped by to chat for a few minutes.

We were also happy to see Joe, WB2SAI, a long time club member.

Henry, K2BFY, is looking as active a ever.  Although I understand he has sold his motorcycle.

Patrick, KN4PIZ, is working the radio.

One of the Sterling Festival leaders. She was coordinating the demonstrations.
John Pinckney, W3XWT
A visitor looking at some magazines. Maybe writing down our web address so he could join us at a meeting.

Suzanne is always smiling.

We always enjoy the company of Paul, K4PDF, and the stories of his family.

And the ham radio demonstration at the end of the street, just doen from our booth.

Steve, KN4BGW, in brown hat and shirt, is awaiting for his demonstration to start.  He is accompanied by his XYL, in white shirt, and Duane, K4UW, behind her.

Although our booth was the major attraction at the festival, the dragon attracted much attention and we watched for a while while the young ones attempted to tickle the dragon.

And then it was over.
Once again this year, it was worthwhile to host the station.
