Forrest B Snyder, Jr., N4UTY (SK)

August 2015. Forrest attends the annual SPARC Pizza Party at Joe's Pizza.
"He was a Vietnam helicopter pilot, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend. He is survived by Paula, his wife of 51 years, their four children, and nine grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Sterling United Methodist Church and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association."

He was an amateur radio operator with an Amateur Extra license with vanity call-sign K4UTY.  He was originally licensed as KC4HMQ.

He was licensed in late 1989 or early 1990.  His call signs are not in the 1989 Winter Radio Amateur Call Book, but N4UTY is in the 1990 Winter Radio Amateur Call Book.

By 1991 he was a General Class.  He was in the 1991 and the 1993 Winter Winter Radio Amateur Call Book as a General class.

He became an Amateur Extra on 8 November 1992 or 26 January 1993.   He was listed an an Amateur Extra in the 1994 Winter Radio Amateur Call Book.  Sometime between being a General Class and Amateur Extra, he held an Advanced license.

He was a member of SPARC for many years. 
  He was the trustee for the SPARC callsign, K4NVA, in the early 1990's. 
  He ran the Virginia QSO Party in the 90's. 
  He was a skilled morse code operator.  His FISTS Number was 9541.  He was one of our CW operators at many field days.
  Periodically he taught the club about antennas, especially with his "All Antenna Are Dipoles" presentations.
  More recently he was an instructor in the SPARC technician license classes teaching antennas.  

2008 SterlingFest,  Forrest, N4UTY, brings out his Heathkit Code Oscillator and telegraph key.


2009 Field Day. Forrest working CW on the RTTY/CW/Phone station.

2010 SterlingFest,  Forrest, N4UTY, and XYL stopped by.

February 2014. Forrest giving an impromptu class on Wonderful Wire Antennas.

September 2014 Tech Class. Forrest , N4UTY, taught Antennas and Feed Lines, and Practical Antenna Systems.

May 2014,  Forrest, N4UTY, gave the class on Antennas and then an extra presentation on Wire Antennas.

January 2015 Technician License class. Forrest, N4UTY, gave the class on Antennas and then an extra presentation on Wire Antennas.

September 2015 Tech Class,  
Forrest, N4UTY, taught the class on antennas and feed lines.
He will be missed.
