The amateur radio technician
license preparatory course was a one and a half day event
on Saturday and Sunday, 24 - 25 September 2022. It began
at 0800 on Saturday and was over at 1200 on Sunday. The
course consisted of 10 classes with a few short practice
test sessions. The class was taught at the Sheriff's Substation in Sterling, VA. Two students participated in this course. Both subsequently passed the technician examination. One studies a little more and also passed the General license exam at the same time. The instructors continued the tradition of providing excellent instruction. We continued our tradition of having a high examination passing rate. The class coordinator / organizer was Amit, WY2Z. The instructors were David, KF4PBU; Kevin, W4KLS; Eric, KF5LR; Gordon, NQ4K; and Suzin, N8SEM; and Larry, W8ANT. Everything went well. Everything was well organized. |

Amit, WY2Z, the class coordinator. He has to start preparing for the class about two months before the start of the class. |
A very small class. Usually we have 15-24 students. Only had two show up this time. Do not know why, |
Amit, WY2Z, leads the first class instructor, David, KF4PBU, to the front of the room. This is the beginning of the class. Have to hope that all are awake. |
David, KF4PBU, taught T1 – Commission’s Rules; T2 - Operating Procedures and T7 – Practical Circuits. David is showing some enthusiasm. |
Kevin, W4KLS, demonstrated his portable digital HF station. Not shown here is the buddy-pole antenna Kevin sets up outside. |
Kevin, W4KLS, taught T4 - Amateur Radio Practices. Kevin has a good memory for humor, so we can assume the class was well entertained. |
After lunch, Eric, KF5LR, taught T5 - Electrical Principles, and T6 - Electronic and Electrical Components. Some slides have pictures to help explain the topic. |
Gordon, NQ4K, taught T0 - Safety, and T8 - Signals and Emissions. These are hard classes to teach at the end of day. |
Larry, W8ANT, and Suzin, N8SEM, started Sunday morning off with T9 - Antennas and Feed Lines and T3 - Radio Wave Propagation. They followed that with several practice examinations. |
