SPARC History
A collection of material from SPARC's past.
Not an organized effort, but a place to put stuff as
we find it.
~1990
A picture find in the bottom
of an equipment box. Our best guess is about 1990.
Standing in back on the right is probably Duane, K4UW, but also
maybe Russ, W3RST. Seated at the radio is probably Mike,
N4PDY. Do not know who is standing on the left. Steve,
KS1G, emailed "I am thinking this is a FD satellite station -
Yaesu AZ/El rotator control box, 2 radios (uplink & downlink)
a Mirage brick amp (a big one), and the photo of a P3C (AO-10 or
13).: In addition, we believe this was taken at park
View High School on the now practice foot ball field, with a
baseball field in the background. You can see a dugout, the
outfield fence, and possible a scoreboard.
1980
Early days of hamdom with the Sterling Park (VA)
club at Field Day. This picture was published in the local
paper. I can make out my old call on my t-shirt. I
wish I knew what rig that was. I don't even know who owned
the RV. And this must have been taken in a field near Park
View HS. 73 ES GUD DX DE N4HAI Tom
1983
A picture of a QSL card
made from a picture taken at the 20th anniversary of SPARC in
1983. Provided by Tom, N4HAI, on 13 February 2017 who emailed: "I
grew up in Sterling, but now live in 8-land. Thought you
might want a copy of the QSL card we printed up back in 1983 for
the club records. N4DLR is my dad, who is still an active
ham." 73 ES GUD DX DE N4HAI Tom
