Herndon Festival 10K and 5K Race Radio Support
On Sunday, SPARC provided transportation and radio support to the 5K/10K races.

David, K3DAR, setting up the net control station before the race, with Paul, K4PDF.

Dick W2YE, manned the milepost 1 on the 10K race.

Blair, KC9BBW, was at the milepost 1 on the 5K race.

Gordon, NQ4K, was at the start line and briefly manned the 10K milepost 6 station.

Paul, K4PDF, was at the mile post 2 on the 5K course.

This morning�s Net is held on the Dulles repeater at 145.31 MHz to receive and 144.71 MHz to transmit; with a PL of 77. The Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club wishes to thank the repeater�s owner for the use.

This is K3DAR. Hearing no emergency or priority traffic, the Herndon Festival 10K & 5K Race Net is now operational.  Please note, this Net may be broken at any time to pass emergency traffic.

This is K3DAR, Net Control for the Herndon Festival 10K & 5K Race Net. The purpose of this Net is to support the Herndon Festival 10K & 5K Race, located in Herndon Virginia.  This is a directed Net, so please come through Net Control to contact another station.   This Net is being operated by the Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club.  Information concerning the club can be found at www.qsl.net/sterling.
At this time, we are going to perform station check-in.  Please begin checking in with your race and mile marker post.  For example, please check in as follows:

We have finished check-in, please remember that as runners pass your post, please call in the first five Runner Numbers as best you can.  Once you believe that the last runner has passed your post, please call Net Control to have your post cleared for shutdown. 

All issues with runners need to be immediately called into Net Control.
Let�s have fun, and please remember, this is a directed Net, but also a training Net.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Net control for clarification.  Please keep transmissions brief, and allow pauses for emergency traffic.
