At the monthly SPARC meeting on 1 March 2017,
the club built portable J-Pole antennas as its main
activity. We used the instructions in the article "The
DBJ-2: A Portable VHF-UHF Roll-Up J-pole Antenna for Public Service" by Edison Fong, WB6IQN. Gordon, NQ4K, provided a brief introduction to the concept at the previous SPARC meeting on 1 February 2017. We had 33 people attend the meeting and materials for 15 J-Pole antennas were used. Most antennas were finished during the meeting. A few were not finished or the builder decided to take the materials home to complete. We had plenty of equipment. Members of the club knew what was needed and brought in equipment, including soldering stations, knives, shrink wrap and even a heating gun. Without that initiative on the part of the hams, this would not have gone off as well. |

Follow-Up
Session |

On Saturday, 4 March 2017, we held a followup session for those who were unable to complete their antennas at the Wednesday SPARC meeting. Six members attended and one more antenna was completed. | ![]() Chaz, KK4TNO, on left working on his antenna. David, ,seated across from him.
