Hello dear Visitor !
My name is Wim SP5DDJ
I have been a Ham since 1967. More than 30 years I've spent DX-ing and contesting. Those were the most fruitful years. I have reached #336 DXCC countries in mixed category and received number of CQWW and ARRL contests awards. One day I started thinking - what do I do next ? Couple of my DXCC 300+ friends started to hunt IOTA, others are still collecting countries by band, some of them earning points for awards. Few lost interest in Ham Radio and began fishing.... But I always knew that Ham Radio was my lifetime hobby, so I made a choice to take a closer look at QRP. You can see some pictures of my new activity on My QRP projects. I still participate in CQWW and the other contests, and have some blank spots in my DXCC worked list, but what will I do when retired ?
SP5DDJ's shack consists of ICOM IC-756PRO and 500W contest linear amplifier. My left hand is supporting my favourite little rig from Elecraft described in "K-1 story" section. My antenna setup on the roof: 3 element tribander for 10/15/20 meters, pair of Inverted Vees for 40/80meters and halfwave wire for 160m.
My profession has been associated with aviation since 1978. I used to be an LOT crew member on Ilyushin 18 and Ilyushin 62M as a flying radio-officer/navigator, Air Traffic Controller and Chief of Tower at Okecie Airport in Warszawa. My background is an electronic engineer, frequency manager and ATC specialist. Now I am an expert of overall air traffic capacity.
