Single‐String Playing on Lower Strings

I think I have found out why I have a problem with single‐string playing (with a plectrum) on lower (thicker) strings. The main reason is that I lower my wrist. On higher strings the base of the thumb brushing lower strings is a means to avoid lowering the wrist, but that support will disappear when playing lower strings. Trying to keep the height of the wrist the same on lower strings as well seems to be the trick in my case. Even if that implies brushing fingers against a finger rest, pickup, etc. The important thing is that these fingers are completely relaxed, and merely “ride along”.
