The Probably Most Important Thing During Single‐String Playing with a Plectrum

The probably most important thing during single‐string playing with a plectrum is to not actively use any part of your hand as an anchor, but at most graze the strings/bridge very lightly with the palm as a plectrum depth reference, and on electric guitar, to mute lower unplayed strings (and when performing muted playing, the played string). As soon as you press your hand against the strings/bridge, or anchor with your fingers, you risk losing the complete relaxation and the free movement of your hand, partly the movement during the stroke, and partly the movement of your hand from string to string.
