You can get started in ham radio with the help of these very special ScoutElmer Award Hams listed below...

It isn't our purpose to tell you everything there is to know about ham radio, instead we hope to point you in the right direction of resources in your community.

There are many dedicated ham that teach amateur radio. The following ScoutElmer contacts are specifically geared to help young people AND Adult learders in amateur radio. ScoutRadio salute these fine hams, clubs and organizaitons.

HOW TO USE THIS LIST:

1. Select your closest location. (We will add map navigation to this page in the next few weeks to make it easier).

2. Send an email to that ScoutElmer identifing yourself as a Scout or Scout leader refered by ScoutRadio. (See pre-caution below)

3. Most ScoutElmers have requested helping via email only. See the comment column for those giving classes. Once you have established email contact, you can ask about phone contact, classes, etc.

4. Common info requested: Scout classes in your area; Testing sites; Equipment suggestions; Scouting ham groups in the area.

Scouts should NEVER arrange to meet with anyone on our list in person unless accompanied by an his/her parent or an adult. Two deep leadership is strongly advised! We have made every effort to qualify ScoutElmers by requiring a callsign and Scout Affiliation, but we can not verify the information. Scouts, make sure you get permission from your parents to contact a ScoutElmer!
