DEC 4 2021 SATURDAY HOLIDAY PARADE  

 

 

PURPOSE:

 

Volunteers will be assigned along parade route to report any emergency or parade delays/mishaps to Net Control. Teams should have line of sight coverage of entire parade route. Net Control will contact any emergency services as required by telephone.

 

Location of parade will be kept track of by START and END assignments. 

 

 MEDICAL AND OTHER EMERGENCIES

 

Each team member should be aware of possible medical or other emergency situations and be alert there to.  It is imperative that you KNOW YOUR EXACT PHYSICAL LOCATION at all times.  Have the HOUSE NUMBER ANDS STREET NAME of the nearest address written down to be readily available if/when required.

 

DO NOT WAIT FOR SOMETHING BAD TO HAPPEN TO FIGURE OUT WHERE YOU ARE

 

 

Meet:

 

All volunteers meet at 9:00 AM at the SCC RADIO CLUB for assignments and reflective vest distribution. HT’s are available for loan as well.

 

 The parade begins at 10:00 AM.  Be available until 11:30 PM.

 

Report to your assigned location by 9:45 AM for a radio check. All stations should be able to hear each other and net control.

 

Frequency:

 

Primary: Sun City Center Repeater. 147.225 MHZ with 146.2 tone.   

Backup: Kings Point Repeater 145.450 MHz with 162.2 tone.

Equipment:

 

Volunteers bring their own Handie Talkie or cart radio and Golf Cart if possible. (Some club HT’s are available for members needing a HT).

 

It is recommended that each volunteer bring a notepad, pencil, water, hat, sunglasses, etc.

 

Radio Club members dress in Orange Club Shirt (preferred), Standard Club Shirt (white) or wear Club Badge.  Jacket depending on weather.

 

 

Members assigned to street spots, start and end of parade will wear reflective vests provided by club. (Hillsborough PD requirement).  These will be distributed at RADIO CLUB starting at 9:00 AM.

 

 

 

PARADE ROUTE:

 

Parade is expected to start at 10:00 AM from North Course Parking lot.

 

The route (a little over 2 miles long).

 Leaves from North Course Parking lot. 

 Turns right east on La Jolla.

 Turns right south on El Rancho.

 Turns right west on Ojai.

 Turns left south on Cherry Hills.

 Ends at Gazebo.   

 

We will have 13 deputies helping with traffic. 

 

CERT (if they come) will be in charge of staging the parade at the start, and parking of carts at the end of parade.

 

Bring your cell phone for backup.  Preprogram the following numbers:

TACTICAL CALL SIGNS

 

Mission specific TATICAL CALL SIGNS will be utilized to clearly identify each Check Point Station.  These tactical call signs will be utilized in addition to (not replace) the FCC ASSIGNED CALL SIGNS of each licensed Team Member when transmitting [FCC Pt 97.119].  

 

STATION LOCATIONS:

 

Remote station volunteers will deploy to chosen stations on parade route.

 

Two people will be assigned to each location if sufficient volunteers are available.

 

When reaching their assigned location volunteers call KE4ZIP on 147.225 using tactical call signs, i.e.:

Such as “Net Control this is Station 3 in position.

 

Use amateur and tactical call sign when first checking in to Net and after parade ends to clear your post.

 

All other transmission use only tactical post name.

 

Each team will then listen for other stations.

 

 When all stations have checked in, all stations will report ability to copy other stations in case relays are needed.

 

Net control will conduct radio checks at approximately 15 minute intervals.
