1 INTRODUCTION
==================================================================

<< FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY >>

KPG-34D software is a tool for programming the TK-261/361 transceiver. The
software allows a user to enter programming data into an appropriate
computer, and then transfer this data to a transceiver. The entered data can
also be printed out to provide a permanent record. Additionally, data that
is already programmed in a TK-261/361 transceiver can be retrieved and edited
using a computer that is running the KPG-34D software.

<< SUPPLIED ITEMS >>

Your programming software package includes the following:

*  floppy disk: 3.5", 1.44 MB
      "KPG-34D PROGRAMMING DISK" containing:
      * KPG-34D program files
      * Instruction manual file

<< SUPPORTED TRANSCEIVERS >>

This programming software supports TK-261/361 transceivers.

<< HARDWARE/SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS >>

7 USING THE MENU
==================================================================

This section describes the various functions in the Menu Bar.

<< FILE >>

The File menu allows you to create, open, save, delete, and print data files.
This menu also provides two methods to exit the program.

< New >

The New function clears the data file already created then allows you to
create a new file. This function resets all data to initial values. Note
that any changes you made to the file will be lost unless you first use the
save command [F4].

1) Open the File menu.

2) Select "New", then press [Enter].
     A warning window opens.

3) Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]", then press [Enter]. Alternatively, use a
     Quick Key if you prefer.
Selecting "[Ok]" resets all data to initial values. The
     "Channel Information" window opens.
Selecting "[Cancel]" aborts the New function. The File menu opens.

< Load >

The Load function reads transceiver data files previously saved on a hard
disk or floppy disk, then writes them into the buffer memory of your
computer. You can change, display, write, or print the loaded file.

1) Open the File menu.

2) Select "Load" then press [Enter].
The "Drive & Path" window opens and displays the currently loaded drive
     and path name.

3) Using the keyboard, type the drive and path name of the desired file,
     then press [Enter].
The "Directory" window opens and displays the name(s) of the file(s) on
     that path.
An error message window will open in the following cases:
1 If the entered drive does not contain a disk.
Press any key, insert the correct disk in the specified drive, then
          press [Enter].
2 If the entered drive and/or path does not exist.
Press any key, correct the entered drive and/or path name, then
          press [Enter].
3 If there are no files at the location indicated by the drive and
         path name.
Press any key, correct the specified drive and path information,
          then press [Enter].

                                                   KPG-34D Instruction Manual

4) Select the desired file name, then press [Enter].
The Load file name window opens.

5) Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]", then press [Enter]. Alternatively, use a
     Quick Key if you prefer.
Selecting "[Ok]" loads the file selected in Step 4. The
     "Channel Information" window opens.
Selecting "[Cancel]" cancels the selection. The "Directory" window
     opens.

< Save(=F4) >

The Save function saves the file that you have created to the drive and path
name previously used. If no drive and path name was previously used the Save
function saves the file in the data file created when the program was
installed (if installed on drive C, C:KPG34D\DATA). This method permits you
to omit specifying the drive name and path name.

1) Open the File menu or press [F4].
If [F4] is pressed, skip Step 2.

2) Select "Save(=F4)", then press [Enter].
The "Save file" window opens and shows the name of the currently
loaded file. If the file already exists the "Warning over write !!"
window opens instead of the "Save file" window.

3) Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]", then press [Enter]. Alternatively, use a
     Quick Key if you prefer.
Selecting "[Ok]" saves the file. The "Channel Information" window
opens. Selecting "[Cancel]" aborts the Save function. The File menu
     opens.

< save As >

The save As function saves the file that you have created to the drive, path,
and name that you specify. The program automatically enters the previous
information used. If this information is correct, press [Enter]; otherwise,
use the keyboard to enter the desired information then press [Enter].
If no drive and path were previously used the Save function saves the file in
the data file created when the program was installed (if installed on drive
C, C:KPG34D\DATA). If no name was specified the program automatically uses
the name "KPG".

1) Open the File menu.

2) Select "save As" then press [Enter].
The "Drive & Path" window opens. The drive and path name displayed were
previously entered (or are default conditions).

files at the location indicated by the drive and path name. Press any
key to clear the message and change to the previous screen. The "Save
file name" window reopens. If the file already exists the "Warning over
write !!" window opens instead of the "Save file name" window.

5) Select "[Ok]" or "[Cancel]", then press [Enter]. Alternatively, use a
     Quick Key if you prefer.
